Need a break from the busyness of life but without the added stress of planning a full trip? Try a staycation and enjoy the luxury and relaxation of getaway from the comfort of your own home or city! There are plenty of ways to treat yourself without needing to travel anywhere far. Here are some easy and fun ideas to get the most out of your staycation.

Themed Movie or Game Night

Cozy up with a comfy hoodie and a pair of sweats, pick a theme and go all out! Pick a unique genre of interest such as classic Hollywood films, fantasy adventures, or international cinema. Prep yummy snacks that match the theme, like popcorn and candy for a Hollywood night or sushi for a Japanese film marathon. If you prefer games, gather up your friends or family and try a board game tournament or video game challenge!

At Home Luxury Spa Experience

For some, the best part of a vacation is getting pampered and leaving feeling refreshed and revitalized. So, light some scented candles, put on calming music or even some ocean sounds, and pamper yourself with a facial, a long bath, and a manicure. If you so desire, invite over some friends and make it a whole spa day! You can even set up a massage station with essential oils for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Pick up a New Hobby

Often, we don’t have time in our day to day to try new hobbies or pick up a new set of skills. Carve out some time during your staycation to try out those hobbies you’ve always been interested in. Whether it's painting, gardening, baking, or crafting, there’s no better time to dive into a creative project. If you really enjoy academics, you could even try learning a new language or taking an online class. There are plenty of fun classes you can take outside of your home as well such as beginner drawing classes or ceramics classes! Get out there and embrace your inner artist!

Explore your city like a tourist

The sense of finding new places, exploring, and making new memories can be a fulfilling and exciting part of a vacation. But chances are, there are plenty of hidden gems to be found within your own city! Visit a local museum (bonus points of its extra funky like the Spam Museum), check out a new restaurant, or take a walking tour of local historical sites. Many cities offer beer tours or art walks that can make your staycation feel like a real adventure!

Spend Some Time in Nature

Often exploring the beauty of nature can be the most enjoyable part of a vacation. Go explore your local parks, trails, and waterways. There are many places that offer river tours or guided nature walks. You don’t have to travel far from home to immerse yourself in fresh air. Even simple activities like reading a book in the shade, birdwatching, or playing sports with friends can help you really capture some relaxing time in nature.

Treat yourself to a local hotel staycation

Taking time off for a staycation doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stay at home. Sometimes to really feel that sense of relaxation you need to get out of your house but without the stress of extensive travel or the cost of airfare or gas. Book a room at your local AC Hotel and enjoy a night or a weekend of relaxation just down the street.

With a little creativity, your staycation can be just as fulfilling as any trip away. So, relax explore, and enjoy your time off, all from the city you call home! And remember to Love Local Like We Do.
